Nick Herbert MP
The No Laybrook Landfill Campaign has the backing of Nick Herbert MP for Arundel & South Downs.
"It really is time we got serious about alternatives to putting rotting rubbish in holes in the ground. The local community, led by Thakeham Village Action, will fight this tooth and nail and they will have my strong support."
Nick Herbert – West Sussex County Times, 25th July 2008
In November 2008, Mr Herbert wrote a letter of support for our campaign, giving us his "strongest backing". In January 2009, he reiterated this support in a press release and again more recently at our fundraiser at Knepp Castle. You can read the associated press releases to the right.
Nick Herbert Registers His Objection
Mr Herbert joined Frances Maude MP and representatives from Thakeham Village Action when they delivered a 5000 signature petition, objecting to the landfill plans, to West Sussex County Council. Mr Herbert also published his formal response to the planning application, which you can read here.
