Cory Environmental Proposal

From 2011 for the next 30+ years, hundreds of lorries will be thundering down the B2133 via the A24 at Ashington to Laybrook Brickworks, carrying 4.1 million tonnes of non-inert waste (that's smelly and rotting), where it will be dumped in the ground and covered up.

This is the proposal that Cory Environmental has submitted to West Sussex County Council. It is a horrendous prospect for residents, businesses and visitors of Thakeham, Ashington, Shipley and also Coolham, West Chiltington, Billingshurst and Southwater.

Planning Application

Cory has now formally submitted a planning application for the landfill site and it is being considered by the council. To read details of the planning application, please click here.

Scoping Report

In July 2008 Cory outlined its proposal for the landfill site in a scoping report. This document has now been superceeded by the planning application, but is archived here.

On reading the scoping report one local resident wrote a response to the report, challenging it's bias and noting it's omissions. Read the response here.
